Emergency Action Plan

On June 27, 2017, Governor Brown signed Sente Bill 92 into law establising new requirements focused on dam safety.  SB 92 requires dam owners to prepare inundation maps and emergency action plans (EAPs) to improve dam safety.  In the event of a dam failure, inundation maps must show areas that would flood, travel times and flood peaks as well as critical locations which may be impacted if a dam fails.  EAP's must identify potential emergency conditions and outline actions to minimize loss of life and property damage. EAPs should include procedures for notifying downstream emergency management authorities with inundation maps that show areas for evacuation. BVWD's Emergency Action Plan was approved by the California Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) on August 15, 2024.
